Is fighting monsters in Dungeons and Dragons too dull for you? Are you sick of rolling a d20 only to see another failure? Want to get back of the real fun of the game which is exploring the woodlands for snozzberries? Roll on this table.

Roll D100 + total party level – total monster hd

Hirelings count as ½ level.

For example a party of 4 level 1 characters with 2 hirelings fighting a group of 8 HD 1 Orcs would roll d100 – 3. (5 – 8)

For each advantage the party has add +5.

Advantages include weapons that are effective against the monsters such as silver against werewolves, spells that would be effective such as sleep against a group of low level monsters or if the party significantly outnumbers the foe by at least 2-1 or have surprised the enemy.

For each disadvantage the party has -5.

Disadvantages include fighting against particular powerful monsters such as Dragons, the party being outnumbered by at least 2-1 or the party not having the tools to fight the monster such as only having mundane weapons against a ghost or if the party is surprised.
